Editorial

The Riptide Floating 155 is the surface sibling to the Slow Sink — same body length, same construction, different buoyancy tuning.

Forty-five grams. BKK Diablo 5X 4/0 inline singles at both points. Matrix Metal Plate stainless plate inside the HD-ABS body, HD Foam buoyancy system, Gorilla Through Wire welded at both ends, three coats of Triple Shield clear resin over the printed body. Designed in Queensland by the Nomad Sportfishing Team.

The Coral Trout colourway is one of the seven active colours in the 155 Floating lineup — a pearl-bellied, reddish-orange-backed pattern that earns its place around coral edges and bommie systems where the namesake species hunts.

Why It Matters

A floating stickbait that works the surface and the immediate sub-surface zone is the most versatile pelagic-casting tool. The Riptide Floating walks-the-dog cleanly on a continuous twitch and rises slowly on the pause, which is the action profile that triggers commitment from fish holding just under the surface. Pair with the Slow Sink for layered coverage — surface and sub-surface — on the same drift.

Best For

  • Coral trout on tropical reef edges
  • Giant trevally over bommies
  • Spanish mackerel and Spotty mackerel surface schools
  • Yellowtail kingfish in chop
  • Australian salmon and tailor
